The Gettysburg Campaign
Cavalry Operations
For some of us, The Battle of Gettysburg continues to be a source of fascination. The combination of outlandish personalities, certain commanders self-serving decisions, and the key moments where professionalism melded with iron determination to succeed. All of that, in the crucible of war where the fate of America was at stake provides no end of material for study.
Cavalry operations are a favorite of subject of ours. Whether horse or mechanized matters not. As we were reading yet another history of the Civil War, it occurred to us that we needed to make a detailed study of the cavalry operations during the Gettysburg Campaign. And here we are.
This is a set of 2 graphics, a timeline that shows the daily tempo of the individual cavalry regiments, and a map to illustrate that roaming. We divided the regimental activities into three categories to assist in this project. The categories are bivouac, movement and combat. This categorization enabled us to more clearly define the campaign. What emerges is the exhaustive operational tempo the regiments sustained.
The timeline is 72 inches wide by 44 inches tall. The map is 60 inches wide by 44 inches tall.
The set of graphics is priced at $1,000 to make it a feasible acquisition for individuals who share the Civil War passion. Most of our products are intended for corporate/government clients. Gettysburg belongs to all us.
