P-38 Fighter Intercept of Admiral Yamamoto

Fighter Intercept details the intercept of Admiral Yamamoto by P-38 fighter aircraft during the Solomons Campaign. The data illustrates the weaponization of signals intelligence collection into strategic decision making, and the delegation of those decisions to theater operations and tactical units.

Emphasis is placed on the tactical execution of the mission by Army Air Corps fighter units deployed to Guadalcanal. Aircraft performance and mission navigation for all participants, hunter and prey, are presented.

Data is derived from after action reports and primary sources.
